Under the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961, J-1 International Summer Exchange Students are given opportunities to participate in work exchange visitor programs in the United States which further foreign policy interests in increasing mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries .

 

Q. I want to employ exchange students, how much do I pay to start?

 

A. There is no cost to participate in the program J-1 student exchange program. As a host company you will only be required to pay the student directly as an employee for up to 4 months.

 

Q. As host company, are we responsible for organizing the paperwork for the visa?

 

A. No, as the host company, all you are responsible for is extending a job offer for up to 4 months. Choice Students International will handle all the visa arrangements, making it a very simple process.

 

Q. How does CSI and its partners screen and select program participants?

 

A. CSI and its partners conduct personal interviews and ensure that the program is suitable to the host company’s requirements and the participants' background, needs and experience. Prospective exchange visitors must possess sufficient proficiency in the English language to participate in their prospective programs.

 

Q. Is it possible to choose the countries of the J-1 students?

 

A. Yes, Choice Students International will do its best to meet your request based on seasonality.

 

Q. May participants work beyond the program end date printed on their DS-2019 form?

 

A. No, students are only allowed to work in the U.S. from their start to their end date as indicated on the DS-2019 form.
